Stars

How much you earn as a scout is directly attributed to your scouting star rating. The more stars you have, the more cash you earn per review and the greater the influence of your scores.

We have provided a table below highlighting the ‘known’ criteria required for each star rating.

There has never been any official ‘benchmarks’ given on the site.
This information comes directly from members scouting experience and is subject to change.

As such, we recommend you take the figures as an approximation.

1* Star - First 25 (or so) tracks

2* Star - Approx 25 tracks reviewed with an accuracy of approx 80%+

3* Star - Approx 100 tracks reviewed with an accuracy of approx 85%+

4* Star - Approx 125 tracks reviewed with an accuracy of approx 90%+

5* Star - Approx 225 tracks reviewed with an accuracy of approx 92%+

Please note that it is possible to lose stars even if you are meeting these benchmarks due to a poor ‘spread’ pattern. Be sure to use the scoreboard in it’s entirety (1-10) when scoring tracks. Scoring within a narrow segment of the scoreboard (ie..4-7) will usually result in the loss of a star(s).

  2. Ninja says:

Hi Scott they have edited the way stars are calculated and the minute we figure the new stats out we will update the post!

When do vouchers turn into cash? Is it based on stars or just 5 dollars? I am working on my third star and was just curious when will I be making some extra money.

  4. Ninja says:

Hi, three stars you begin to start making money, vouchers however can only be invested into artists.

Slicethepie is a UK site so its based in Pounds (£) not Dollars ($)

If you are from the US you cannot pre order contracts, due to the USA gambling laws. So in theory you cannot convert them into cash, only free music in the artist you invested in!

    Hope this helps!

hi, i was just wondering if this info is still up to date? Ive only been on the site a couple days and have just done my 100th review with an average of 89% and im still only a 2 star scout! cheers for any help you can give

  6. Kinetic X says:

    Hi Morph38….

The criteria for reaching selected star ratings is continually being amended by STP. Unfortunatly, Piewatch are not privy to these changes so the information provided remains, at best, an estimate. The information comes from the STP forum, where such star thresholds are discussed. With the help of forum members, we update our information should there be a new trend come to light (and we are able to quantify any change). The above star guide should therefore be taken as a very rough guide.

Hey just to let you know, i went from 2 stars to 3 stars at 100 reviews, i use spread and had an accuracy of around 88-92%

  8. kirhit says:

Same for me, i went to 3 stars at 100 reviews for the first time. My accuracy is only around 85% but i use spread.
I fell down to 2 very shortly after this and back up to 3 again so 3 doesnt seem to be as steady as 2 was.
    I hope this helps.

  9. Kinetic X says:

Hi Kirhit and Saltshots! Thanks for the heads up, we’ve updated our listing (no doubt it may change again)

    Respect

  12. Ninja says:

    Hi Kellie,

  13. kellie says:

hello again. reviewed fourty songs now and accuracy is 80.06% does it still need to be more as i;m still on one star?

  14. Ninja says:

Yeah needs to be around 85% I think, with a good spread.

  15. kellie says:

thanks for the advice after 83% accuracy and good spread it got up to 3 stars. on 71 reviews now, good spread and 86.12% accuracy. what can i do to shoot it up to three stars?

  16. Ninja says:

    Excellent news!

Be warned though they will go up and down now, so dont get too disheartened if you find yourself on 2 stars again :)

  17. kellie says:

okaay. is there much more work needed for three stars? and how much accuracy roughly will i need with good spread? x

  18. l90 says:

    what is a spread?

  19. bobsayshi says:

I have reviewed 65 song at an Accuracy of 81.71%. I am still on my first star. What am I doing wrong. I am using spread. HELP!

  20. Ninja says:

It seems like your accuracy may be a tad low and Slicethepie may have risen the threshold since we wrote this article, I would suggest keeping at it and trying to be a little more accurate and I’m sure in a short while you will have your second star and onwards

  21. Morgred says:

I recently scouted and i would like to update the info: it ook me 91,5% accuracy to get to the 4th star and i have 92,7% and heaven’t reached the 5th si i guess it would be 93 or 93,5, maybe more.
