As you know it’s new showcase time over at STP, having a browse through the new bands we noticed our pals from the black country, rhesus. (for those who dont know they were our Artist Of The Month for May) Since we last spoke rhesus have recorded a new EP, recorded for Balcony TV and made it to the financing stage on Slicethepie (Proud parent-like glows!). We caught up with Rich, the bands head honcho to get the gory details!

Piewatch - Hey Rich! Looks like a lot has changed since you were our Artist of The month for May! Our first artist of the month to make a showcase might I add! You must be stoked?
Yeah, we’re over the moon! It’s a great feeling to be so close to achieving a lifelong dream! We’re a hard working band, and we’ve got some great music to record – now it’s our chance to raise the funds! We’ve set up a web page to explain the process to our fans – hopefully, they’ll invest!
Piewatch - How did STP break the news and how did the band react, when you told them?
I got an email from Slicethepie explaining we were in the next showcase, and I rapidly called the band – we’re really, really excited, we thought we were going to make the last showcase and just missed it so making it in this time really was sweet!
Piewatch - Whats the plan for raising the £15k?
We have individual investment (friends, family, people we know etc) and we have a few other deals going through; I’d love to go into more detail, but until they’re signed I’m not really supposed to talk about them. All I will say is watch our investment closely, as there will be significant boosts soon!
Piewatch - We hear theres another EP due? Give us the details!
The new EP is called Bored Games and is out November 20th. You can see it and hear a preview [but not purchase it YET] here.
We’re just getting the first round of reviews from the EP atm and they’re all very positive, which is a boost, after all the hard work we’ve put into it. The album cover alone took me 10 hours of photoshop work (and 10 separate photos!) But it was 100% worth it.The EP will be available on Amazon, iTunes and all good music stores!
Piewatch - We hear you have recorded for Balcony TV, how did that pan out? Is Layla as nice as she looks?
We went down and played for Balcony TV a while ago – it’ll be played on the 27th (I think) of November.
It was really, really tough if I’m honest – it was cold, wet and windy and I couldn’t feel my fingers! Layla seems to have dyed her hair blonde, and did indeed look fit. Typically, we got interviewed by some good looking bloke instead of Layla. On the plus side it does mean you won’t see me drooling. ![]()
Piewatch - Whats next for Rhesus?
We’re launching the EP on the 20th November (in Stourbridge), then playing at The Hope and Anchor (London) the day after. Following that we have a gig at the Flapper and Firkin (Birmingham) on the 29th November, and then we get a break for Christmas! In true Rhesus style however, our “break” will be investment fund raising – Lindsay (the bassist) and I are going to America to raise funds with our friends, fans and family over the pond!
Piewatch - Any Last Words?
Yeah, just a plea really!
